A Patient’s reflection on their medical recovery with the help of AIMS
A couple travelling from Europe for a dream holiday in South Africa encountered trouble when they had an accident while on a bike ride. Luckily AIMS was ready to come to the rescue and assist with managing their medical care while in a foreign country.
Here is the story in his words;
31/01/24:
It all started with excitement and anticipation as we boarded the plane from Brussels Airport to Cape Town, South Africa. This trip was a long-cherished dream for both of us, filled with visions of vineyards, the ocean, and wildlife adventures in the Cape Province. But what began as a journey of dreams quickly turned into a nightmare.
02/02/24:
Our first outing was a bike trip through the picturesque vineyards of Franschhoek. The heat was oppressive and navigating electric mountain bikes on gravel roads proved more challenging than we anticipated. Disaster struck when my partner took a fall, rendering her unconscious and leaving her with injuries that would change the course of our vacation.
04/02/24:
Days blurred into a nightmare of pain and bureaucracy. Phone calls to our insurance company yielded little assistance, and the weight of responsibility fell heavily on my shoulders.
07/02/24:
A glimmer of hope emerged with the arrival of AIMS. Their swift response and empathetic support transformed our experience. Finally, someone understood our distress and took action.
08/02/24 – 13/02/24:
The ambulance arrived, and the extent of my partner’s injuries became shockingly clear: a broken collarbone, pelvis, and foot. Amidst the chaos, AIMS provided a steady hand, guiding us through the maze of medical procedures and financial obligations. With AIMS at our side, a semblance of normalcy returned. They navigated the complexities of medical care and logistics, allowing us to focus on recovery.
13/02/24 – 17/02/24:
Back at the Lodge, AIMS continued to orchestrate our journey home, ensuring every detail was attended to with care and efficiency. As we slowly recover from the ordeal, AIMS remains a steadfast presence, offering support and guidance every step of the way.
In hindsight, our journey may have been derailed, but it was AIMS who provided the guiding light through the darkness. To Frances, Zameer, Harold, and all the compassionate souls at AIMS, we extend our deepest gratitude. You are more than an organization; you are angels in disguise, restoring hope in the midst of despair.
