AIMS celebrates Mandela Day with POWA

AIMS celebrates Mandela Day with POWA

Nelson Mandela Day was on 18 July, and in order to honor Madiba and carry on his legacy, AIMS and Bidvest Steiner collaborated to assist POWA.

People Opposing Women Abuse (POWA) is a safe and equal organisation that is intolerant of all forms of gender-based violence. They believe that women should be treated with respect and dignity and their rights should be promoted.

Daniel’s daughter brought POWA to our attention. She makes bracelets to sell and the proceedings go to POWA. We asked our AIMS employees to buy bracelets and show their support.

We assisted in collecting personal protective equipment (PPE) for the women to wear while being welcomed into the POWA facilities and during their concealment sessions. Thanks to the efforts of AIMS and Bidvest Steiner, POWA will now have enough personal protective equipment to last them for the next few months.

Thanks to everyone who contributed in support of this cause on Mandela Day!
